From 1 July 2025, an request for access under the Victorian FOI Act must be accompanied by an application fee of $33.60.
The Treasurer published in the Victorian Government Gazette on 22 May 2025 that a fee unit will increase to $16.81 from 1 July 2025. An application fee under the FOI Act is 2 fee units, but the product of that multiplication (2x$16.81=$33.62) has to be rounded to the nearest 10 cents under the Monetary Units Act 2004 – $33.60.
Victorian government agencies should ensure any published material or any other outward facing information about making an FOI request for access is suitable amended.
